Attendees can learn to dye and weave sheep’s wool, knit, cook lamb and taste the best lamb dishes known to man. The celebration includes cooking classes, educational presentations, crafting workshops, storytelling, movies, a market and more. Since then, the festival has turned into one of the biggest events in Idaho, and was even ranked as one of the top 10 fall festivals by MSN and USA Today. The festival was originally started in an attempt to explain the inconvenience of the sheep migration to locals who were unhappy with the overcrowded roads. For the past 20 years, this event has been celebrated at the Trailing of the Sheep Festival. ![]() ![]() ![]() Every year, countless sheep flood Idaho’s Wood River Valley to make their way to the mountains to graze for the summer.
